Who I teach:
I work very well with all levels of musicianship and all kinds of personalities. While I am comfortable preparing a student for a professional piano career, I feel it is equally important to teach the hobbyist. I have also worked extensively with adults with developmental delays and children with physical disabilities.
What to expect:
We will talk about what you want to get out of piano, what you want to learn to play and create goals to get you there! These goals incorporate music theory, rhythm, improvising, sight-reading, finger exercises, assigned listening, and practice charts. We will compose, discuss music history, and play a lot of music!
I present two studio recitals a year and encourage parents to accompany their child on guitar, flute, piano, or even sing along! If you are an adult student looking for performance opportunities I can help you present a musical evening for your neighbors and friends. Or if you are looking for guidance in creating and running jam sessions, I can help facilitate that process as well.
If you are more career-minded, I am a member of MTNA/OMTA and can set you up with competitions, master classes, and additional recital opportunities.
The piano world is yours to explore!
